Sons & Daughters of Italy - Geneva Lodge 2397
October is Italian Heritage Month!!
May 2024
Greetings Sisters and Brothers.

I hope you and your families are healthy and safe.

“Originally called Ordine Figli d’Italia, the Order Sons of Italy in America® (OSDIA) was established in the Little Italy neighborhood of New York City on June 22, 1905, by Vincenzo Sellaro, M.D., and five other Italian immigrants who came to the United States during the great Italian migration (1880-1923). Their aim was to create a support system for all Italian immigrants that would assist them with becoming U.S. citizens, provide health/death benefits and educational opportunities and offer assistance with assimilation in America. In 2017, the Order Sons of Italy in America was renamed the Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America® (OSDIA).” **https://www.osdia.org/

I felt it was important to refresh our memories on how and where the Sons & Daughters of Italy in America began. I’m a strong advocate of re-discovering and promoting our Italian heritage through our Geneva lodge membership. We need to continue our strong efforts in making a positive impact in our community.

Equally important is your active participation in our Lodge. There are numerous ways you can contribute and be part of our continued success.

We have many events scheduled throughout the year that require volunteers in order to be successful. You can also contribute by sharing ideas on how we can be more involved with our community, as well as creative ways to raise funds.

A good place to share those ideas, as well as concerns you may have, is at our Assembly meetings.
This is your lodge. To be successful and grow we need your involvement.
Thank you in advance and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Fraternally Yours.
